This page has links to various sites on Russian writers. You'll find the classics here (and can actually read their books) as well as works from current writers. The picture above is of Sergey Esenin, a Russian poet (1895-1925).

Liubov Sirota - This female poet began writing the day after the Chernobyl Nuclear Reactor Explosion in Pripyat on April 25, 1985. This page is particularly moving. She and her son were victims of Chernobyl and the site contains not only her poetry but pictures of Pripyat taken in 1999 by her son, Sasha. The before and after pictures really tell a story by themselves.

Chekhov Stories: This site gives a bio, as well as links to all his stories. Unfortunately, you have to scroll down to "Russian Lit" and then click on "201 Stories." This is a great site for all types of Literature. Aleksandr Pushkin Bio: This 19th Century Poet changed poetry in Russia.
