  • Find an artist in a book or art magazine (not the internet for the time being). Note the source.

  • Sketch the work, read the article, do more research if necessary to round out your knowledge - you can use the internet for this - and write about both the artist and his/her work:

  • Pertinent bio info (not the whole life story, just what is necessary to understand the art).

  • Critical analysis of one or more works

  • How you feel about the work, how it relates to your interests and your work, what you have learned from this artist.

Independent writing, sketching, brainstorming, research for your personal work/ concentration - several pages each cycle.

Reflection on anything new in class, or anything I may assign.

  3. Write a narrative that outlines how you intend to fulfill the AP portfolio requirements in the best way you can.
  4. Write an artist statement about your concentration and any concentration pieces you've done so far. See the "commentary" on the AP Studio poster.
