UNICEF Voices of Youth

  • Description: Through Voices of Youth, students take part in an electronic discussion about the future as we face the 21st century, looking at how the world can become a place where the rights of every child are protected, that is, the right to live in peace, to have decent shelter, to be healthy and well-nourished, to have clean water, to play, to go to school, and to be protected from violence, abuse and exploitation. There are three forums:The Meeting Place: In this forum, you will be asked to think about and give your views on current global issues, particularly in the light of how they affect children worldwide. You will also be challenged to look at ways in which you yourself can take action in your own community. Everyone can take part and all responses will be shared with others in this forum. The Learning Place: In this forum, a series of interactive global learning projects will be carried out by schools or groups who volunteer to take part. Groups of young people in different locations around the world will work together on common activities. The Teacher's Place: This forum is where teachers, trainers, educational planners and people who work in development t agencies such as UNICEF National Committees and Country Offices, and young people can discuss the use of electronic networks for global educational projects, and exchange experiences about other similar projects in this field.

They can participate in the CyberVolunteer program in which they receive a monthly email message from a Peace Corps Volunteer.
